I began my schooling at Deanwell Primary School, then continued to Melville Intermediate and Melville High School, and now I am proud to be here at Mangakōtukutuku College as one of your Head Boys.

For 2026, I have many aspirations for our school. I want to see our school continue to grow in sports, cultural practices, and academic success. I also want our younger students to feel supported and encouraged in whatever they choose to pursue. Most importantly, I want this year to be enjoyable and memorable for everyone, and I hope to leave Mangakōtukutuku College knowing I helped make a positive difference in our school community.

One thing I really love about MKT is the opportunities it gives us as students. Whether it’s through sports, cultural activities, extracurricular activities, or the classes we take, our school provides many ways for us to grow, challenge ourselves, and succeed.

Ann Babu

Kia Ora koutou,

My name is Ann Marie Babu. I am 17 years old and ethnically from Kerala, India. I was born in Dubai and spent a big part of my childhood and teenage years there before moving to New Zealand. I enjoy dancing and playing volleyball for school.

For 2026, one of my main goals is to create a school where students are excited to go to with a plethora of opportunities for junior and senior students so that everyone is able to learn as well as accomplish their aspirations.

The ethnic diversity at Mangakōtukutuku College is one amazing feature that I adore. Every culture feels celebrated and accepted in their own way which I whole heartedly admire.

Alfred Justin

Kia ora,

My name is Alfred Justin Thomas. I am 17 years old and ethnically from Kerala, India. I spent part of my childhood going to school in Kuwait and Kerala before moving to New Zealand.

For 2026, one of my main aspirations is to create opportunities for younger students that we wish we had when we were juniors, while also helping make the year fun and memorable for everyone.

One cool thing I love about Mangakōtukutuku College is the cultural diversity. It has allowed me to make friends from many different cultures throughout the years. Outside of school, I also love playing football and travelling around with my friends.

Kia Ora!!!
I’ve been to multiple different primary schools including Deanwell Elementary and each have had a lasting impact on how I present myself today and who I aspire to be.
My aspirations for 2026 are to contribute to our kura by creating opportunities and events that bring students together and encourage them to get involved. As Head Student, I also aspire to be the best version of myself and lead in a way that leaves a positive and lasting impact on future head students.
One thing I really admire about Mangakōtukutuku College is its constant growth. The kura may have started with challenges, but the improvements over time have been incredible, and it continues to grow and develop each year. Being part of that progress is something that inspires me.
